Bayview Buzz: 24-hour sandwich shops and coffee with a side of injera.
"neighbors noticed - and has been since the pandemic. But the new year has brought some exciting changes to the corridor, home to the largest concentration of Black-owned businesses in San Francisco. Among them: An Ethiopian cafe, a sprawling bakery commissary (with, perhaps, the possibility of freshly baked goods before they hit the market), a 24-hour sandwich spot, and barbecue dreams at a former hair salon."
"Among the many free arts and crafts activities held by the Bayview's Linda-Brooks Burton Library at 5075 Third St. this Sunday at 2 p.m., teens and adults can partake in a free class on hot glue embroidery and create their own wearable art. Participants are encouraged to bring their own items to bedazzle, but a limited quantity of tote bags are available."
Last year Third Street Corridor in Bayview was noticeably quiet and remained subdued since the pandemic. The new year has brought renewed activity along the corridor, which contains the largest concentration of Black-owned businesses in San Francisco. New openings include an Ethiopian cafe, a bakery commissary that may offer freshly baked goods before wider distribution, a 24-hour sandwich spot, and plans for a barbecue restaurant in a former beauty salon. Tallio's Coffee will reopen its storefront. All Good Pizza received an alcohol license and will offer Italian-style cocktails alongside beer, wine, and Neapolitan-style pizzas. The Linda-Brooks Burton Library is offering free hot-glue embroidery classes with limited tote bags.
