""perfect combination""
Larry Williams, 62, died while working out at the War Memorial Gym at the Sobrato Center on the University of San Francisco campus on Thursday morning. The university did not release a cause of death. Williams had served as USF athletic director since Aug. 31, 2022, and described the role as a "perfect combination" of his values, including his Catholic identity and USF's educational mission. He emphasized contemplative prayer and the harmony of faith, education, and athletics for holistic student-athlete development. A Notre Dame graduate, Williams played eight NFL seasons, attended law school during his playing career, worked at Baker & Daniels, and began his collegiate athletic director career at the University of Portland in 2004.
