Summer games at Oracle Park remain a popular attraction regardless of team performance. Ali Wong, San Francisco-born and raised, attended the Giants' 5-2 win over the Cubs with partner Bill Hader and comedian Nick Kroll. Wong and Hader were shown on the ballpark big screen wearing Giants jerseys and hats. Wong attended University High School near Pacific Heights, threw out the first pitch at a Giants game in 2017, and appeared as a celebrity cut-out during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Hader has previously identified as a Cubs fan, and his apparent support for the Giants may be influenced by Wong and meeting mascot Lou Seal.
Ali Wong, the San Francisco-born-and-raised comedian, was in attendance as the Giants took on the Cubs. She sat alongside her partner, comedian and actor Bill Hader, and comedian Nick Kroll. The trio got a shout-out on the ballpark's big screen, with Wong and Hader wearing Giants jerseys and hats. The caption of the social media post says that the two draped in orange and black gear are "confirmed @SFGiants fans."
Anyone aware of Wong's Bay Area bona fides - she attended University High School near Pacific Heights - will already know she's a dedicated local sports fan. She threw out the first pitch at a Giants game in 2017, and was one of the celebrity cut-outs placed in Oracle Park during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Outside of the ballpark, she attended the first Golden State Valkyries home game in franchise history earlier this season.
The caption is a bit more relevant to Hader, who has previously said he was a big Cubs fan, the team that the Giants beat in the series opener. Whether his conversion to San Francisco baseball fandom was a temporary one is unclear, but it'll certainly be hard for him to give up on this team between his partner's support and meeting beloved mascot Lou Seal. Of course, the Giants beating his Cubs a few more times probably couldn't hurt either.
