Brownstone Shared Housing purchased a new building to expand its downtown San Francisco sleeping pod operation. The company previously drew attention for offering $700-a-month sleeping pods and faced an eviction notice after lacking proper permitting. With proper permitting secured, Brownstone will retain its 12 Mint Plaza location and open a much larger site at 1049 Market Street. The new Market Street location will be roughly ten times the size of the Mint Plaza building. Brownstone plans to make nearly 400 sleeping pods available by summer 2025.
