Malin Akerman and Jack Donnelly are leaving California and listing their family home for $3 million. Akerman bought the property in Los Angeles’s Los Feliz Oaks neighborhood in 2008, after living there as a renter for three years. She said she fell in love with the home’s view and has lived there for 21 years, now planning a new chapter on the East Coast. Over two decades, she saved money from acting work to renovate, including a custom kitchen, a pool, a hot tub, a studio above the garage, an expanded living room, and a primary suite in the lower level. The 1940s Mediterranean-inspired compound spans 6,780 square feet with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, plus a center courtyard, wrought-iron gate, grand pool, hot tub, and pergola-shielded kitchen and dining area.
"“I instantly fell in love with the home when I saw it,” recalls Akerman. “The view is really what got me! I've been living there for 21 years now, but it's time for me and the family to start a new chapter on the East Coast.”"
"“There were some things that needed updating when I moved in, but I had been living in a one bedroom apartment; so moving to a three bedroom house was truly life changing,” she recalls. “With every job I booked, I'd put away a little nest egg so I could eventually make changes. I always dreamed of having a pool and hot tub. Some of the renovations we did include a custom kitchen, adding a pool to the yard, building a studio above the garage, expanding the living room, and turning the lower level into a primary suite. Over the years, I slowly renovated to make it truly feel like home.”"
"Today, says Lori Levine Harris of the Brock & Lori Real Estate Team which is listing the property, “The home is a Mediterranean-inspired sanctuary, with a unique design perspective that only Malin could have created: old-worldly yet design-forward, cozy and fun.” The 1940s compound spans 6,780 square feet, with the main house featuring four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. A wrought-iron gate opens to a center courtyard, a grand pool, a hot tub, and a pergola-shielded kitchen and dining area."
