Fairfax County officials are expressing concerns about the economic effects stemming from the Trump administration's plans to cut the federal workforce. Jeffrey McKay, chairman of the board of supervisors, highlighted that significant job losses could threaten local economies, especially as many affected workers are veterans. The board is urging Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin to take action by establishing a centralized hub for financial assistance and services for those impacted. Most board members, all Democrats except one Republican, supported this initiative, emphasizing the urgent need for state leadership during this challenging period.
The Trump Administration's goal of reducing the federal workforce... threatens our local, regional and statewide economies... it is time for Gov. Youngkin to show his support for the thousands of Virginians that are having their livelihoods stripped away.
Virginia needs leadership from the top now while so many are being threatened... eight of the nine members of the board, all Democrats, supported the motion.
