Trump is trying to make government workers more like those in Corporate America: Easier to fire
Briefly

The Trump administration is reviving a push to reclassify federal workers as at-will employees, which would strip them of strong civil-service job protections. Under the proposed changes, employees could be easily fired without just cause, a move critics argue could politicize government jobs and undermine their apolitical nature. This shift is seen as a continuation of efforts started during Trump’s first term, aiming to make it simpler for federal agencies to remove underperforming personnel, though it faces significant legal hurdles and backlash from civil service advocates.
This will allow agencies to quickly remove employees from critical positions who engage in misconduct, perform poorly, or undermine the democratic process by intentionally subverting Presidential directives.
I do expect to be Schedule F at some point. Personally, it's totally bullshit; this gets into the whole history of the civil service and the politicization of civil service.
