"San Francisco is at a crossroads - and few neighborhoods capture its challenges and opportunities like District 3. From iconic visitor destinations like North Beach, Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf to the evolving status of the Financial District and Union Square, this part of the city sits at the heart of San Francisco's economic, cultural, and civic identity. Supervisor Sauter will join KALW Executive Producer Ben Trefny for a wide-ranging discussion about the future of these communities."
"Danny has a deep background in District 3's neighborhoods, including serving on the board of his neighborhood association, North Beach Neighbors, for more than 8 years. During this time, he started and ran the North Beach Farmers Market, coordinated a free delivery service to support restaurants during the pandemic, and organized neighborhood cleanups. He served as the first Housing Chair of the San Francisco Sierra Club and as the District 3 Director of the Eastern Neighborhoods Democratic Club."
KALW will host a live Town Hall with San Francisco District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter focused on the future of District 3 neighborhoods. The event will cover housing, small business recovery, public safety, neighborhood identity, and the influence of civic media on local change. District 3 includes North Beach, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Financial District, Union Square, and other central neighborhoods that shape San Francisco's economic and cultural character. Attendees can ask questions and share perspectives. Danny Sauter has extensive neighborhood experience, founded the North Beach Farmers Market, organized pandemic restaurant support and cleanups, and held leadership roles in local organizations.
