States like Oklahoma and Iowa are increasingly setting up their Departments of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce government spending, workforce, and wasted resources. Oklahoma's DOGE revealed over $157 million in underutilized federal health grants and is actively assessing workforce reduction and procurement waste. Similarly, Iowa is initiating its DOGE to promote transformative efficiency measures. While federal efforts are underway to curb waste and fraud, critics argue that mere cutting will not suffice for true efficiency across government levels.
"Oklahomans work hard for their money - DOGE-OK is making sure the government does the same," Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said.
"This task force is yet another opportunity to apply Iowa's proven formula of asking tough questions and making bold, transformative changes," said Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds.
