Fórsa has notified the chief executive of South Dublin County Council of impending industrial action, following a ballot that showed over 92% support among administrative workers. The dispute centers on the outsourcing of debt recovery tasks to external solicitors. The union's planned action will involve a complete withdrawal of engagement with councillors and committees, as well as participation in lunchtime protests. Assistant General Secretary Maura Cahalan emphasized the lack of meaningful dialogue from management and warned of escalation if discussions do not occur.
"South Dublin County Council management is making a crude attempt to obscure its real position, which is a blunt refusal to adequately staff South Dublin County Council's legal department to carry out its required functions."
"The unequivocal vote by members showed that council management totally misread the room by alleging that staff do not have concerns over outsourcing and staffing levels."
