"In 2025, we were caught on the back foot,"
"But we built power. In 2026, we solidify our power and we fight back."
"In this moment, it is more important than ever to continue to stand together, to go against these terror attacks against our communities,"
"On January 20, we call on our communities to organize teams,"
Several hundred people gathered at San Francisco City Hall to protest President Donald Trump’s first year back in office and to plan future resistance. A coalition of progressive organizations organized the rally following a call to action from the Women's March. Protesters held signs opposing U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, demanded abolition of ICE, and carried posters of Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Speakers urged building and solidifying power in 2026. Supervisor Chyanne Chen called for third-party investigations into ICE-related deaths and a moratorium on ICE detentions. The march ended at the Federal Building with organizers estimating 1,500 attendees, and similar demonstrations and calls for walkouts occurred nationwide.
