Mayoral candidate Raman unveils rebuilding plan for Pacific Palisades

A plan aims to support rebuilding in Pacific Palisades and reduce wildfire risk across Los Angeles. The plan proposes creating a central “recovery district” led by city officials and Palisades residents to oversee rebuilding and redirect some Palisades property tax to local infrastructure projects. Potential uses include putting electrical lines underground, supporting local businesses, and helping residents rebuild with fire-resistant standards. The plan also calls for streamlining permitting by offering pre-approved fire-resistant building plans. It includes keeping reservoirs full during fire season and clearing flammable brush from nearby wildlands. Additional measures include building a more reliable emergency communication system and publishing neighborhood-level fire department performance data.
