Mayor Lurie does not speak 'quite often' with Kristi Noem, says City Hall source

"You maybe have some challenges in San Francisco just because of your state laws and local laws. Although you've got a mayor that works with us very well. He probably doesn't want me to talk about it a lot, actually. But he has been cooperative and we have great conversations and talk quite often."

"The source said Lurie has not spoken to Noem in four months, since the call he received from President Donald Trump on Oct. 22 preceding the president pulling back federal immigration agents and rescinding a threatened Bay Area-wide deployment."

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem claimed during a press conference that Mayor Daniel Lurie works cooperatively with federal immigration enforcement and that they have great conversations and talk quite often. However, a San Francisco City Hall source revealed that Lurie has not spoken to Noem in four months, with their last contact occurring on October 22 when President Trump called the mayor before pulling back federal immigration agents from the Bay Area. Noem made these statements during a police union conference shortly after being fired by Trump. San Francisco has experienced fewer large-scale immigration raids compared to other major cities, with arrests largely confined to immigration courthouses and ICE check-ins.
