Brad Bondi, a partner at Paul Hastings, faced a significant defeat in his campaign for DC Bar president, losing 91% to 9%. His campaign focused on issues like CLE reform but was overshadowed by the political backlash related to his sister, Pam Bondi, and her controversial position in the Department of Justice. Bondi's concession post on LinkedIn reflected gratitude but also expressed frustration over the campaign's shift towards partisan attacks, which he felt tarnished the integrity of the Bar's mission.
Instead, I am disgusted by how rabid partisans lurched this election into the political gutter, turning a professional campaign into baseless attacks, identity politics, and partisan recrimination.
They were not just an assault on my integrity but on the D.C. Bar's very mission.
