Kara Hernandez, a 31-year-old former teacher at Ronald Thornton Middle School, was arrested after allegations of sexual contact with a middle school student surfaced. These allegations led to her resignation in September 2024 after a student reported her conduct to the district. Hernandez has been indicted for engaging in inappropriate sexual relations with a student, and Fort Bend ISD responded quickly by removing her from campus and initiating an investigation as soon as the allegations were reported.
"Recently, allegations of past inappropriate conduct by a Thornton Middle School staff member were brought to the district's attention by a former student. Fort Bend ISD immediately began an investigation, and the staff member was immediately removed from the campus and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The staff member will not be returning to FBISD."
"A grand jury indictment accuses Hernandez of intentionally engaging in sexual contact with a student enrolled at the school, according to court documents obtained by Click 2 Houston."
