
A Simi Valley homeowner reported that a doorbell camera alert helped save his wife’s life during the Sandy Fire. The fire began Monday morning and burned over 2,100 acres, reaching 22% containment by Wednesday evening. The homeowner was at work when he received a phone notification about the fire at their home. He called his wife so she could gather belongings, take their parrot, and evacuate. When he arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames and visibility was extremely poor. He focused on his wife’s safety and later returned to search for a missing wedding ring.
