Simi Valley homeowner who lost house in Sandy Fire credits Ring alert with helping save wife

A Simi Valley homeowner reported that a doorbell camera alert helped save his wife’s life during the Sandy Fire. The fire began Monday morning and burned over 2,100 acres, reaching 22% containment by Wednesday evening. The homeowner was at work when he received a phone notification about the fire at their home. He called his wife so she could gather belongings, take their parrot, and evacuate. When he arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames and visibility was extremely poor.
