A 47-year-old man from Selden was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 20 years of post-release supervision for sexually abusing his daughter. He was convicted in a bench trial of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. Prosecutors said the abuse began in summer 2015 when the victim was five, involving touching of her intimate parts while her mother was away. The abuse escalated to intercourse and ended when the father moved out and no longer had access to the child. The victim disclosed the abuse to school officials after keeping it secret for several years. The man was arrested in April 2024 following an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department.
