Pennsylvania School District Adopts AI-Driven Gun Detection Technology
Briefly

The South Williamsport Area School District in Pennsylvania is deploying ZeroEyes, an AI-driven gun detection software to enhance safety across its campuses. With a focus on proactive threat identification, the technology aims to inform local law enforcement quickly. Although the district serves a relatively small population of around 1,190 students and 120 staff, it is taking substantial measures beyond ZeroEyes, including upgraded communication tools and advanced security systems. Superintendent Eric Briggs emphasized the initiative's link to securing grant support and the essential collaboration with local police to improve campus safety.
"Our decision to partner with ZeroEyes stems from our commitment to improving student safety," said Eric Briggs, Superintendent of SWASD. "I first encountered this technology two years ago and immediately recognized its potential."
According to the ZeroEyes Gun Violence Research Center, 35.9% of analyzed shootings in Pennsylvania took place on K-12 campuses, highlighting the urgency for enhanced security measures.
