Francisco Javier Valverde Mateo, a 39-year-old nurse, was convicted in May 2025 after pleading guilty to covertly filming a child in a leisure centre changing room. He was also found guilty of possessing 3,999 images and 1,163 videos of child sexual abuse material. At Galway Circuit Court, he received a sentence of 2 and a half years imprisonment, with the final year suspended.
