Mountain lion sightings rattle Bay Area neighborhoods
Briefly

Residents in northern Fairfield reported encounters with a mountain lion in their neighborhoods, prompting warnings from city officials and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Security cameras captured the mountain lion prowling, first seen crossing a walkway and later exhibiting aggressive behavior near a home. Residents were reminded of their proximity to wildlife and advised to keep pets indoors and exercise caution outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk when mountain lions are most active. Officials noted mountain lions typically avoid human contact.
That's good advice, said California Fish & Wildlife PIO Krysten Kellum. "Mountain lions are most active from dusk to dawn… keep kids and small animals close."
In a social media post, police described the encounter with a touch of humor, calling the mountain lion "a strange late night/early morning visitor... or had an earnest desire to make new friends."
