"In addressing Eis during the sentencing, Wesley's mother said, "You robbed me of my son and the world of a boy who would have become an amazing man.""
"Eis faced 10 felony charges for his calculated attacks, which stemmed from his longstanding violent and extremist beliefs."
Austin Allen Eis, a 26-year-old Camarillo man, was sentenced to 85 years to life for a series of violent attacks that led to the death of a 15-year-old high school student, Wesley Welling. On April 18, 2023, Eis stabbed an employee at a Walmart and rammed his car into a group of students outside Westlake High School. Prosecutors identified his actions as premeditated and motivated by a desire for mass violence, backed by a history of extremist views. Eis will be eligible for parole after 24 years.
