Local Woman of the Year is devoted to community service

Assemblymember Alex Lee recognized Janice Gebhardt as Assembly District 24's Woman of the Year for her extensive volunteer efforts. A retired embryologist, Gebhardt has dedicated her time to crucial organizations, including SAVE, which assists domestic violence victims, and HERS, supporting breast cancer patients. In a related event, the Humane Society Silicon Valley is honoring Sue and John Diekman for their significant contributions, including a pledge of $3 million to support animal rescue programs. Their annual Fur Ball gala will take place on May 10 in San Jose.
"Sue and John have not only fueled our mission; they have strengthened the foundation on which our future is built," said HSSV Board Chair Peter Detkin.
