This month, over 340 visual artists from the San Francisco Bay Area, including Lorraine Lawson from Campbell, are participating in the Silicon Valley Open Studios event. Lawson's artwork, reflecting themes of transformation, draws inspiration from various elements like architecture and cultural evolution. On May 17-18, Lawson will open her studio to the public. Additionally, a hands-only CPR and AED class will be held on May 22 at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino, teaching vital emergency skills to participants, though it will not offer certification.
Lawson's abstract, textural paintings are inspired by transformation, capturing essences of architecture's breakdown, cultural evolution, and water's flow between the representational and abstract.
Participants will learn to perform high-quality compressions on adults, children, and infants; use an AED, and aid someone choking, but not how to perform rescue breathing.
