AUSD Notes: Naming Alameda High scoreboard for Bullock proposed
Briefly

The Alameda Unified School District is inviting public comments on a proposal to name a scoreboard in the new Alameda High School gym after Richard Bullock Sr., a dedicated advocate for youth sports. Bullock, who passed away in 2022, was a lifelong resident of Alameda, active in various sports and coaching roles. The naming of the scoreboard is seen as a lasting tribute agreed upon between the AHS Athletic Boosters and the Bullock family, with funds raised in his memory to support meaningful contributions to youth athletics.
If you lived in Alameda during the last 70 years, he either coached you, played against you or raised money for you. This highlights the extensive influence and impact Richard Bullock Sr. had on local sports and community.
I knew that I did not want this to be used just in the general fund. I wanted something meaningful, impactful and long-lasting. This demonstrates the intention behind the fundraising efforts for creating a lasting tribute to Bullock.
