The New, Reborn Club Deluxe Gets City Hall Approval for Live Music Until 2AM, Seven Nights a Week
"It seems the new reincarnated version may now be calling itself The DeLuxe, according to their new social media handles (that punctuation matches their longtime red neon sign). And on Thursday, the new owners went before the SF Planning Commission requesting a permit to establish amplified live musical entertainment, and an authorization allowing hours of operation to be 9am-2am 7 days a week."
"This is a pretty significant change for those of us who've gone to Club Deluxe for years. Per their old permit, which was approved way back in 1996, Club Deluxe could not have amplified live music, and could only have live music from 9:30 pm to midnight on weekdays, and 9:30 pm to 1 am on weekends. Not that's extended to 9 pm - 2 am, seven nights a week."
The 33-year-old Club Deluxe closed in 2022 and again announced permanent closure in April 2023 after a failed arrangement with then-Supervisor Dean Preston. New ownership by former bartender Christian Beaulieu and Jay Bordeleau plans to reopen the venue, which appears to be calling itself The DeLuxe. The SF Planning Commission unanimously approved a permit for amplified live musical entertainment and hours of operation from 9am to 2am, seven days a week. The owners pledged to install soundproof baffling to address upstairs residents. The new permit represents a major expansion from the 1996 restrictions on amplification and limited late-night hours.
