Sasha Berliner is a San Francisco–reared vibraphonist who leads a movement of young players elevating the vibraphone to center stage in contemporary jazz. She relocated to Los Angeles and joins a wave of young jazz artists reshaping the Southland scene. Berliner performs as a player, bandleader, collaborator and educator, returning to the Bay Area for multiple December engagements. Her Dec. 7 concert at Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society features Giulio Xavier Cetto, Javier Santiago, Anthony Fung and trumpeter Anthony Hervey, and will be live-streamed. She also appears Dec. 27 at Miner Auditorium for SFJAZZ's UpSwing Series with Michael Mayo and a quintet including Myles Martin and Tristan Cappel.
