Celebrate Mardi Gras In the Mission District Tuesday Evening
"It's Fat Tuesday, everybody! And for those who celebrate, or those who wish they were in New Orleans or Rio, or elsewhere to celebrate, there are a few festivities happening in SF. Down in New Orleans, Mardi Gras celebrations tend to wind down by the evening hours of Mardi Gras Day, with everyone out parading and partying since the early morning hours, and for much of the last week or more."
"Mission District restaurant Curio (775 Valencia) is going to be hosting the East Bay Brass Band this evening, and there appear to be plenty of reservations still available to dine while enjoying some New Orleans jazz between 5 pm and 8 pm. After that, next door at The Chapel, the famed Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans will be playing a Mardi Gras show starting at 8 pm. Tickets for that can be found here."
Fat Tuesday events are happening in San Francisco despite most people not having the day off. Mission District restaurant Curio (775 Valencia) will host the East Bay Brass Band with dining reservations available and New Orleans jazz from 5 pm to 8 pm. The Chapel will feature the Rebirth Brass Band performing a Mardi Gras show starting at 8 pm. Verdi Club will hold a Woodchoppers Ball swing dance party with Hot Baked Goods beginning at 9 pm ($20 at the door). SF Carnaval is staging a neighborhood-wide event with over 30 businesses, live music from soca to cumbia and rumba, and dance performances at multiple venues including Arcana and Casements.
