He refers of course to the very controversial center-running bike lane experiment that the SFMTA tried out on Valencia Street, then eventually scrapped after a year and a half, as shops up and down the Valencia corridor said it was destroying their customer foot traffic."
"Amado's has reopened at the exact same 998 Valencia Street location, with a limited-hours soft opening. And as the sandwich board above says, the pool table is back, baybeeeee! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amado's (@amados998) The reopening apparently happened sometime around mid-July. And as we noted earlier, it's a limited-hours soft reopening that's currently just Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5 pm - midnight."
Amado's on Valencia Street closed for nearly two years amid a controversial SFMTA center-running bike lane experiment and a severe basement flood that caused roughly $500,000 in damage after Pride Weekend 2023. The bike-lane experiment was later scrapped following merchant complaints of reduced customer foot traffic. Amado's has reopened at the same 998 Valencia Street location with a limited soft opening, currently Thursdays through Saturdays with food served only on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue is offering a limited menu (house-made chips and salsa or guac, a quesadilla) and hopes to expand to more weeknight nights; the pool table has returned.
