United Natural Foods (UNFI), a key grocery distributor, recently reported suffering a cyberattack impacting its operations and order fulfillment. The company detected unauthorized access to its IT systems, necessitating a partial network shutdown and implementation of workarounds to service customers. Despite these measures, disruptions continue. UNFI, which is a primary distributor for Whole Foods, has been in the spotlight due to its large customer base and the increasing threat of cyberattacks in the retail sector, emphasized by recent incidents affecting other companies in the grocery supply chain.
"We are assessing the unauthorized activity and working to restore our systems to safely bring them back online," said Jimenez, adding that the incident was reported to law enforcement.
The intrusion has caused ongoing disruptions to its business operations, impacting its ability to fulfill and distribute customer orders.
