Baby food sold at Target is recalled due to elevated lead levels
Briefly

Fruselva, a Miami-based company, is recalling over 25,000 packages of its baby food sold under Target's Good & Gather brand, due to potential elevated lead levels. The affected products include two specific lots of the Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purée with best-by dates of December 7 and 9. The FDA classifies this recall as Class II, indicating a low risk of serious harm, but urges consumers not to feed these products to babies, as lead exposure can lead to severe health issues.
As the recall was initiated in March, no impacted products are in circulation, the spokesperson said. Consumers should not feed these products to babies.
Exposure to heavy metals can cause developmental and cognitive problems. There is no safe level of exposure to lead for children, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
