Ambitious indoor-outdoor waterfront restaurant to open by SF's Oracle Park
"A new indoor-outdoor waterfront restaurant from Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group, the group behind the Vault Steakhouse and Trestle, is slated to open directly across from Oracle Park this fall. The name and concept for the eatery located inside the China Basin development in Mission Bay has yet to be announced, but co-owner Ryan Cole told SFGATE that it's one of Hi Neighbor's most ambitious projects yet."
"The reimagining was designed by Cass Calder Smith, the architect behind many San Francisco restaurants like Hog Island Oyster Co., La Mar and Lily. Cole said the space will feature high ceilings and a main dining room that seats 50 to 60, as well as awnings outside equipped with heating on cooler days. A Feb. 9 press release from Hi Neighbor further talked up the planned floor-to-ceiling retractable windows, lounge, reservable fire pits overlooking the water and private dining room for large groups."
""It's not going to be over-the-top fine dining, but it's going to be refined," Cole said, adding that the menu will be designed for sharing. The restaurant will likely open at 4 p.m. for happy hour, as it's "very conducive for groups having drinks," he said. They hope to appeal to everyone from the pre- and post-game crowd to neighbors and nearby office workers. Eventually, Hi Neighbor plans to add an on-site cafe to the space as well."
Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group plans to open an indoor-outdoor waterfront restaurant in the China Basin development in Mission Bay directly across from Oracle Park this fall. The space will offer views of Oracle Park's Jumbotron and the Mission Creek channel. Cass Calder Smith designed the reimagined site, which includes high ceilings, a main dining room seating 50 to 60, floor-to-ceiling retractable windows, lounge space, reservable fire pits, awnings with heating and a private dining room for large groups. Executive chef Jason Halverson is designing a refined, shareable menu. The restaurant aims to open around 4 p.m. for happy hour and later add an on-site cafe.
