We're the biggest queer group you never see-it's time we changed that
Briefly

The article emphasizes that bi+ individuals—comprising bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, and omnisexual identities—are the largest yet most overlooked subgroup within the LGBTQ+ community. Despite making up 4% of Americans, they often feel marginalized and caught between straight and gay worlds. This disparity has led to a lack of engagement and visibility, which must change. The current socio-political climate necessitates that bi+ individuals unite and actively support the entire queer community to resist societal oppression effectively.
If anything, now is the time for the bisexuals, pansexuals, polysexuals, omnisexuals, and anyone with bi+ or fluid sexual and romantic identities to support the broader queer community and, in turn, help ourselves.
Despite being the silent majority, bisexuals are hardly talked about and frequently find themselves lost between straight and gay spaces, fitting neatly into neither.
According to a Pew Research study from August 2024, 4% of American adults identify as bisexual. Compare that to the 3% of adults who identify as lesbian or gay.
Right now is an all-hands-on-deck situation, and we can't have half the community sitting this one out. Not when the stakes are too high.
