In anticipation of Trans+ History Week in May 2025, QueerAF and Trans+ History Week CIC have launched a downloadable workbook that aims to showcase significant yet overlooked historical evidence of trans and non-binary individuals. Developed through over 80 hours of research led by Gray Burke-Stowe, the workbook seeks to challenge misconceptions and narratives perpetuated in politics and media. Its four key lessons emphasize the longstanding presence and fight of trans and non-binary people, particularly noteworthy given the current rise in anti-trans sentiment and hate crimes.
The workbook's four lessons - "We've always been here", "We can't be erased", "We're stronger together", and "We're more than Trans+" - contain historical accounts of trans and non-binary people.
The awareness week, founded in 2024, exists to promote the real history of trans and non-binary people, as well as combatting erasure.
