The town passed a budget on June 3 that incorporates revenue growth measures and expenditure reductions discussed in a prior meeting. Town Manager Chris Constantin highlighted the use of Measure G sales tax and $900,000 from general funds. Although balanced for now, the budget anticipates a structural deficit growing to $900,000. Staffing rates are affected by vacancies, with new police recruits bringing numbers closer to target. However, growing salary benefits and capital obligations, including public infrastructure, present ongoing financial strains.
'The budget is legally balanced, but the town has a structural imbalance which will grow if not addressed,' Constantin said.
'When we have a resource, such as a library or a building, those resources have life cycle assets that need to be replaced,' Constantin said.
