Jonathan Bailey backs LGBTQ+ diversity week in schools
Briefly

Jonathan Bailey, patron of Just Like Us, expressed his support for School Diversity Week, highlighting the significant impact such initiatives could have had on him as a young gay person. The week, scheduled from June 23 to June 27, encourages UK schools to engage in various inclusive activities. Bailey reflected on his own experiences growing up in an environment lacking LGBTQ+ visibility and resources, stating that the support and representation from initiatives like this could empower young people to embrace their identities and feel accepted.
School Diversity Week is an incredible initiative that creates the inclusive environment every young person deserves. Growing up, I would have loved to see LGBT+ inclusion celebrated in schools, it would have made such a difference in feeling seen, supported and accepted.
The media spun stories that were so negative towards the plight of the gay experience, so I didn't really have access to anything that made me feel welcome or like I was going to be OK, and I was someone who was very aware of who I was.
