I waited 15 years to see Hunky Jesus-and yes, he delivered
Briefly

The Hunky Jesus event embraced defiance and celebration in challenging times for the queer community, where political repression is increasing. Participants showcased vibrant fashion, camaraderie, and an atmosphere of acceptance. The event combined elements of protest and celebration, creating a unique space that resembled a queer church. Iconic figures in the community attended, emphasizing solidarity and support. This gathering highlighted the importance of joyous resistance, contrasting the commercialism often associated with Pride events.
Hunky Jesus - as it turns out - was just what I needed. Here is a crowd that will hand you sunscreen, fix your lash, and call you gorgeous in the same breath. They came to serve lewks and affirm life, and maybe scream a little for Sexy Satan.
What should have been a goofy day in the sun ended up feeling a lot more sacred; here was queer church, a protest, and fashion week all rolled into one. It's everything Pride should be when it's not oversaturated with commercial sponsors.
