The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus announced that Chief Executive Officer Christopher Verdugo will step down on June 30, 2026 after ten years of leadership. Verdugo led milestone performances, groundbreaking tours, and expansion of mission-driven programs that strengthened the chorus' cultural role and social justice work. His tenure included the 2023 opening of the chorus' permanent home and the Chan National Queer Arts Center, a community space for LGBTQ+ artists. Verdugo cited a prior sabbatical and reflection as factors in his decision and expressed deep gratitude to board chairs Tom Paulino and Glenn DeSandre, Artistic Director Jake Stensberg, staff, supporters, and the singing membership.
