Donna Sachet reflects on her experience co-emceeing the recent Mr. San Francisco Leather Contest alongside Lenny Broberg, highlighting the deep connections within the leather community. The event celebrated leather culture and history, featuring traditional elements and moments of community significance, including heartfelt speeches, a vibrant display of community flags, and a surprise wedding proposal. The weekend served as a poignant reunion for friends and allies, reaffirming the emotional bonds that define the leather community. The event's smooth execution owed much to the dedicated leadership of Daddy Ray Tilton and the talented panel of judges.
The contest took place at SOMArts and, under the direction of Daddy Ray, it ran like a well-oiled machine. Within minutes, the years of working together with Lenny paid off and we guided the nearly 200 attendees through a lively competition between 7 contestants.
Several special moments added to the night, including a color guard that featured various community flags and a display of leather vests with historic markings and memorabilia.
The entire weekend became a beautiful reunion with friends from far and wide, showcasing the strong community ties and history within the leather culture.
Speaking of judges, this panel was stellar, featuring notable figures like Mr. SF Leather 2010, Lance Holman, and Mr. Santa Clara Leather 2014, Frank La.
