"Rolfe, who announced her retirement early this year, has been one of the most successful nonprofit leaders in the city's history, having spearheaded numerous programs and other initiatives benefiting all facets of the LGBTQ+ community. They include the center's offerings concerning employment and financial services, housing resources, arts and culture programming, and specialized support for youth and trans communities-several of which were the first of their kind in the nation."
"Cheers to a Champion was co-emceed by Sister Roma and Cindy Solomon and included a roast of her by community leaders such as drag legend and San Francisco Bay Times columnist Donna Sachet, as well as fellow Bay Times columnists Honey Mahogany and Rafael Mandelman, the President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. California State Senator Scott Wiener was also among the many local luminaries honoring Rolfe."
Rebecca Rolfe served 22 years as Executive Director of the SF LGBT Center and announced her retirement earlier in 2025. She spearheaded numerous programs and initiatives serving all facets of the LGBTQ+ community, including employment and financial services, housing resources, arts and culture programming, and specialized support for youth and trans communities, several firsts nationally. In 2017 she led a major capital remodel that established the Market Street building as a city landmark and expanded the center as a multiservice hub. The center now serves thousands annually. A celebratory event, Cheers to a Champion, honored her and launched a fundraising campaign named for her.
