Bright Eyes and Cursive, two well-known groups from Omaha, Nebraska, have collaborated to produce a mashup titled "Recluse I Don't Have to Love," combining elements from Cursive's "The Recluse" and Bright Eyes' "Lover I Don't Have to Love." Released exclusively on Bandcamp, this collaboration coincides with National Trans Day of Visibility, aiming to raise funds for the Poison Oak Project, which advocates for LGBTQ+ equity, particularly for the trans community. Both bands have humorously acknowledged the similarities between the songs for years, making this mashup a celebration of their shared history.
"Recluse I Don't Have to Love" merges "The Recluse" from Cursive's 2003 album and Bright Eyes' "Lover I Don't Have to Love" to celebrate trans visibility.
All profits from the mashup single will support the Poison Oak Project, aiming to advance equity for the trans community during National Trans Day of Visibility.
