Bingo, Bikes, and the Road to 50 - San Francisco Bay Times
"Sometimes the best way to build momentum for the future is to gather, laugh, and celebrate the community that brought us to where we are today. As the San Francisco Dykes on Bikes prepares for our historic 50th Anniversary ride at San Francisco Pride this June, we are kicking off the season with an afternoon that promises plenty of laughter, connection, and a little fabulous chaos."
"The afternoon will feature music, dancing, games, prizes, and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends old and new. The centerpiece of the afternoon will be Drag Bingo from 4-5 pm, hosted by the incomparable Leggy Pee, an Oakland-based drag and theater artist and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. With sharp wit, theatrical flair, and a whole lot of sass, Leggy Pee will keep the room laughing while players compete for some fabulous prizes."
"What began nearly five decades ago as a bold act of visibility by a group of Dykes moving their motorcycles to the front of the parade has grown into an organization that continues to represent queer community pride and activism."
San Francisco Dykes on Bikes is preparing for their 50th Anniversary ride at San Francisco Pride in June 2025 by hosting community gatherings and fundraisers. On March 22, from 3-7 pm, they will host an afternoon event at The White Horse Bar featuring music, dancing, games, and Drag Bingo hosted by Leggy Pee from 4-5 pm. A second fundraiser is scheduled for April 24 at Rikki's in the Castro during Lesbian Visibility Week. These events aim to build community connection and raise funds for the organization while celebrating its legacy as a pioneering group that began nearly five decades ago as a bold act of visibility.
