In a devastating escalation of violence, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that 15 people had lost their lives and 75 were injured following a widespread Russian attack. Key cities including Kyiv, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia experienced significant bombardment, resulting in severe damage to residential buildings. Efforts to rescue trapped individuals continue in particular locations within Kyiv. The attack involved a significant arsenal of over 440 drones and 32 missiles. Amid this chaos, there were reports of a US citizen killed due to shrapnel from the missile strikes, highlighting the personal and international ramifications of the conflict.
"Kyiv has faced one of the most horrific attacks. Overnight, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions were attacked," Zelenskyy said.
"The nature of the damage is direct hits on residential buildings. Rockets from the upper floors to the basement," stated the Kyiv City Military Administration.
"We have 27 locations that were attacked by the enemy. We currently have over 2,000 people working there, rescuers, police, municipal services and doctors," said Klymenko.
"A US citizen had been killed in the attack after being struck by shrapnel," reported Interior Minister Klymenko.
