Trump hopes to speak to Putin after US, Ukraine agree 30-day ceasefire
Briefly

Following talks in Saudi Arabia, the US proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the decision now lies with Russia. President Trump expressed hope for positive discussions with President Putin regarding this ceasefire agreement. Ukraine's President, Zelenskyy, confirmed readiness to accept the ceasefire, urging Russia to show willingness to end hostilities. Meanwhile, the US plans to resume intelligence sharing and security assistance to Ukraine, which had been paused earlier amidst tensions.
"Zelenskyy said in his nightly address on X that the US ceasefire proposal includes a full 30-day interim ceasefire: stopping missile, drone, and bomb attacks, including in the Black Sea and along the entire frontline."
"If they say no, then we'll unfortunately know what the impediment is to peace here," Rubio said, adding the ball was in Russia's court.
