The Russo-Ukraine war has introduced unique warfare tactics, including drone usage and improvised strategies. Lithuania is responding to these changes by establishing a drone academy aimed at training 22,000 individuals, including school-age children, in drone piloting by 2028. This initiative will start with basic drone piloting skills for younger children, progressing to advanced design and operation for older students. The Lithuanian government plans to open three drone academies by 2025 and six more by 2028, recognizing the importance of unmanned aerial technologies in modern life and education.
"We plan that 15,500 adults and 7,000 children will acquire drone control skills by 2028," said Dovilė Šakalienė, the Lithuanian minister of national defense.
