Russia's overnight barrage on Ukraine includes use of powerful Oreshnik missile

Russia launched 90 missiles and 600 attack drones in a major overnight assault on Ukraine, including an Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile. Explosions occurred across Kyiv throughout the night, with fires reported in a business center and the central market. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported extensive damage and more than 70 injuries, in addition to two deaths in the city. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and Cabinet of Ministers buildings suffered slight damage. President Volodymyr Zelensky said strikes hit a water supply facility, burned down a market, and damaged dozens of residential buildings and several schools. Ukraine’s Air Force reported most missiles and drones were shot down or missed, while 16 missiles and 51 drones struck 54 locations. Russia’s Defense Ministry stated the targets included military-industrial complex facilities, military infrastructure, and command posts, and denied strikes on civilian infrastructure.
