Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized the UK and France for allegedly exacerbating the Ukraine conflict by discussing the deployment of a European peacekeeping force. He argued that this approach focuses on escalation instead of addressing underlying issues. Lavrov accused these European nations of attempting to undermine the current balance of power, asserting that their military aid would further entrench Ukraine in NATO's sphere. He also indicated that Russia remains open to negotiations, albeit within boundaries unacceptable to Ukraine, while rejecting claims of unwillingness to engage in talks about the war.
Lavrov stated that Europe’s approach insists on heating up the conflict in Ukraine rather than addressing its root causes, undermining the balance of forces in Europe.
According to Lavrov, proposals from London and Paris regarding peacekeeping are designed to pump Ukraine with weapons and draw it deeper into NATO's influence.
