High-stakes Ukraine talks held in France - with Rubio, Witkoff and Kellogg all at the table for first time
Briefly

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoys Steve Witkoff and Gen. Keith Kellogg met in France with European and Ukrainian officials to negotiate an end to the war. This marked the first involvement of both envoys in discussions surrounding the conflict. The talks focused on potential peacekeeping deployments and involved French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian officials, outlining the US stance in collaboration with a broader 'coalition of the willing' to bolster security guarantees for Ukraine. Witkoff's previous sympathetic stance toward Russia raised concerns among hawks.
This could include the possible deployment of peacekeeping troops should a full cease-fire or end to the war be reached.
Witkoff has so far only met with Moscow's leaders on the Ukraine war, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, and has tended to be more sympathetic to the Kremlin.
