In Kharkiv, Ukraine, a city deeply affected by war, the local dance theatre has emerged as a sanctuary. The Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre has created an underground refuge where residents can experience performances, providing a brief escape from the harsh realities of conflict. Recently, the theatre hosted its first complete classical ballet since the Russian invasion, performing Chopiniana, showcasing the resilience of the city’s cultural spirit despite the ongoing psychological burden of war.
