The 26.2-mile course began on Staten Island, crossed the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn, wound through Queens and the Bronx, and finished on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue into Central Park. Wheelchair, handcycle and select athletes with disabilities started early, followed by five waves of amateur runners. Marcel Hug won the men's wheelchair race in 1:30:16 for a record-setting seventh title. Susannah Scaroni won the women's wheelchair race in 1:42:10. Hellen Obiri set a women's course record of 2:19:51, edging Sharon Lokedi by 16 seconds. Benson Kipruto beat Alexander Mutiso by less than a second.
