Molly Seidel Feels Happier and Healthier As She Prepares for 2025 NYC Marathon
"She'd just returned home to Flagstaff, Arizona, after a trip to Colorado. But she wouldn't be back for long. That night, the 2021 Olympic bronze medalist planned to drive up to Mammoth Lakes, California, to visit a friend in need of a training partner. This fall, Seidel is set to run the New York City Marathon, her first since finishing eighth at the Chicago Marathon in 2023."
"It's been a really hard last two years, so it's nice to finally feel like I've got some good momentum going, Seidel, 31, said. I really wanted to do [a marathon] this fall, not necessarily to go balls to the wall, but to get back into the swing of things, and New York really suits the kind of runner I am."
Molly Seidel has spent much of the summer traveling, returning to Flagstaff after trips and preparing to drive to Mammoth Lakes to help a friend with training. She plans to run the New York City Marathon this fall, her first since finishing eighth at the 2023 Chicago Marathon. After two years of injuries, surgery, and setbacks, Seidel is adopting a happier, more sustainable marathon approach that emphasizes trail miles and steadier training. Seidel earned an Olympic bronze in Tokyo and set a PR of 2:23:07 in Chicago, but recent knee pain forced her to withdraw from the Olympic Marathon Trials.
